The blade shall be fabricated of stainless steel. The handles may be fabricated of metal or organic material. Any metal used shall be treated to resist corrosion. Any organic material used shall be non-absorbent and washable in hot, soapy water. The materials shall not be biodegradable and shall not be damaged by storage at high and low temperatures.

General Description

The shedding blade shall be designed and fabricated to facilitate removal of loose hairs from the surface of a dog's coat. The shedding blade shall consist of a flexable metal strip with a blunt serrated edges along the length of both sides, and a handle at each end. The serrations on opposite sides of the blede shall be of different sizes, for the use on coarse and fine hair (e.G. 12 teath per inch for fine hair and 8 teeth per inch for coarse hair). The handles shall be provided with a means to lock together so that the blade may be formed into a loop for use with one hand, as well as separated for use of the blade with two hands. The exposed length of the blade between the handles shall be at least 10 inches, and the handles shall each be at least 4 inches long.
